Hello people,
Hardhat Digital is a group of ~35 creative people in Prahran, Melbourne (we
also have an office in Sydney!). At Hardhat, everyone meets clients,
everyone uses the phone, everyone brainstorms. Nobody has creative in their
title, but everyone has it in their job description. We've got permanently
stocked pantry, a fully loaded refrigerator, amazing projects to work on
and the best agency dog going around. Oh, and an indoor basketball court
and whisky bar.
We are currently looking for... Ok, we are pretty much looking for
everyone. We have positions ready now for anyone from a
"just-getting-my-foot-in-the-door" junior to an accomplished senior. We can
offer a helpful mentoring environment for juniors.
We work primarily in Ruby on Rails. So whilst RoR experience would be
handy, we are more interested in finding talented developers with a
willingness to learn (and teach).
As a developer at Hardhat, you will be involved in projects from inception
to final delivery. You will work along-side a strategist, a designer and a
frontend developer throughout the entirety of a project. Some things you
may be doing include:
• Server-side programming in Ruby on Rails (and optionally JS or .Net
if that's your flavour)
• Designing and building databases (Sqlite, MySQL, Postgres)
• Developing custom software for physical installations (like this
one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-Q8QNz065s)
• Finding ways to improve existing processes and recommending new ones
• Integrating with (and writing your own) APIs
• Writing Javascript (or something that compiles to it)
• Mentoring junior developers (if applicable)
• Participating in roadmapping sessions
• Administering Linux servers (if applicable)
Some additional things that may impress us:
• A few years industry experience in a similar role (depending on
where you see yourself on the junior-senior scale)
• An active Github account (or equivalent)
• Proficiency in Linux administration
• Experience in any non-run-of-the-mill programming languages (think
Clojure, Rust, Haskell, D, Prolog, Go, etc, etc)
• Personal projects
• Exceptional skills in the ancient art of wallball (Prison rules)
