theconversation.com is an independent, non-profit source of research-based news and analysis. Our articles are written by academics in collaboration with our editorial teams using the TC platform - a custom rails 4 CMS backed on postgres 9.4.
We launched over 5 years ago, and in that time have gathered a large amount of interesting data, like how often our articles have been read (total: 558 million times!), public social media activity and comparative performance across sections (health, politics, etc) and institutions (Melbourne Uni, Sydney Uni, etc). We'd love to improve our understanding of the data, so we're looking for a database wrangler to help us tidy up our data warehouse and build efficient queries to answer our outstanding questions. Experience with ruby is not strictly required for this role, but all our application code is in ruby so an applicant comfortable with both postgres and ruby would be amazing. The role is being offered as a 6 month contract on-site in Carlton (Melbourne). For more details, including salary range and how to apply, please check our job board posting: https://jobs.theconversation.com/jobs/13586-database-administrator-6-months.
