What he meant is that for onUpdate to work you need to have id="xxx_###" in your LI elements, as onUpdate uses the Sortable.serialize function to determine if something has been changed, which in turn creates a value based on the id's of the LI elements. It's explained in the wiki better than I'm explaining it now.
