All,

Got home today and breathed a sigh of relief. I got to see and hug my kids.
I guess we've got an inkling of what our fathers' or grandfathers'
generation felt after Pearl Harbor.

We live in Hampton Roads' area of Virginia so we've been hit pretty hard
with military alerts and sudden deployments.
I work at Newport News Shipbuilding. We build aircraft carriers. Currently
working on the Eisenhower which is in for a refueling and overhaul.
We're a pretty easy target sitting there on the James River. All you need is
a boat, some explosives, and a willingness to die and we'd be toast.
I was working on flight deck today so I spent a lot of time looking around.
Walked out the gate at 3:30 wondering if some maniac had parked a car on the
street just to catch a few thousand "average Joes and Josephines" rushing to
get home and send them into Eternity.

Feeling a little down, a lot relieved, and am going to a special prayer
meeting at church tonight.
God, have mercy on America.
