In the early 1960's was a TV show set in a small
southern town named *Mayberry..

The Main character was the town sherrif played by
an actor name of Andy Griffith.. He was a single
parent of a young boy "Oppie" played by actor Ron
Howard..

The show is remembered for wholesome humor and now
is even used as Sunday School material.. But when
it was produced.. the script would come to the set
and the actors would re-hurse the lines..

Ron Howard remembered those days as a child actor:

"They would tell me what they wanted and give me my lines
to read.. and I often said to the director.. *That's not
how a real kid would handle that situation<G>"

"Well then.. what do you suggest?" replied the adults<G>

"Lot's of times I could get them to change what I was doing
to fit my character better.. I guess you could say I was a
TV writer-director even back then<G>"
