Long time Rangernet readers know that I've tackled some out of the box thinking about Boy leadership and the reasoning about why things are, the way they are.. I found the end of the trail.
Some of what I have found has been like uncovering a dusty treasure long forgot.. and some has seemed that wars have killed many, bones litter the fields, and the battles were needless. Since 1995 I've waited to find one Outpost that has it's act togather.. Planed meetings that inspire achievement and uses the patrol method effectively. *Sadly, the report is not,.. that those conditions are above our heads, out of reach or un-desired. The report I think true is that we lack the will to do the program we pledge to do. Now while I've looked.. I have seen hundreds of snappy dressed boys in uniforms with berets and sabers... Thousand's of Men in various stages of Coonhat foo-fa-raw and regailia...all haveing Ego buttons pushed and most happy with the process. There is however a *haunting effect of seeing boys and men disappear without a trace... Men who were at the center of the fire now cannot be found.. CONFESSION TIME! ---------------- I was told and came to *beleve.. that Royal Rangers was the fastest growing organization for youth in America. I beleved that we openly welcomed all boys to our RR camps and outposts. When I became a Commander, I assumed my Church, Parents of Rangers and the organizational resources above the local would have resources and answers to assist the full growth of our Outpost. I even assumed that our efforts were worthy of respect from our Community and Nation. OK.. back to the trail<G> I'm pulling and praying with every bone in my body that the new re-write fires the passion of the boys who come to RRangers to achieve and grow to become who God desires and preserve our common heritage for their world. I'm praying that the goals established will be met so that LARGER goals can be set! I'm praying that as our success draws attention.. our pool of new recruites will grow and enlarge the footprint of Royal Rangers as a viable resourse to many that would welcome a Christian boys program. I beleve however, that expansion cannot happen without an answer to the ethical challenge posed by RR's finest competition, and Scouting's last point or "Law" REVERENCE.. "He is Reverent toward God. He is faithfull in his religious duties, and respects the convictions of others in custom and religion." The last line of that phrase defines the differences between a singular denoninations intrests and those of the larger community view of fellow belevers. Here's to a Mighty-Fine Royal Ranger future..
