We got a call about 11:15 last night informing us that we had lost one of the "pillars" of our church last night to a heart attack. I am not sure of his age, but I think he was in his late 50's or early 60's. He had served on our council for a while and had served as a commander in the past. His name is Jim Bernard.
He was instrumental in the construction of our new church. He came to us by the will of God and had told me once that he wasn't sure why he was called to our church. It became apparent when we started our new church building program. Jim served as the general contractor and many times was the only one working on the building. My wife made the comment last night that it is ironic that the man most responsible for the building we call our church home will be the first funeral in this new church. Please pray for his wife Shirley and Shirley's mother, who has been living with them for a number of years. Please pray for strength and guidance during this time.
