A devotion for all of you to enjoy and share... ******
In a valley not too far from somewhere lived three Thangys. They lived in a Thangy house on Thangy street. Their names were simple: One Thangy, Two Thangy, and Three Thangy. Nothing fancy about a Thangy. The Thangys woke up one morning to find that part of their house was missing. Where there used to be a solid wall was a wall with a piece about two feet high missing. One Thangy touched the wall right above the opening and Two Thangy touched the wall just below the opening. Three Thangy reached over very slowly and stuck its thangy hand in the hole where the wall should have been. The thangy hand went straight through the hole. Three Thangy jerked its hand back real fast. The Thangys stood around there for a while in the house with a piece of wall missing and talked about what they should do. It was obvious that they needed to get the piece back, but they did not know how to do it or where to start. The two things that Thangys do best is talk and walk. The talking didnt solve their problem, so they decided to take a walk. They all walked out of the thangy house. One Thangy was very careful to lock the door to the thangy house. They didnt want anybody coming in the house while they were gone. You see, Thangys arent all that smart and they didnt think about someone crawling in the hole in the back of the house. The Thangys walked down the path into the woods with One Thangy leading the way followed closely by Two Thangy and Three Thangy. All of a sudden, One Thangy stopped. Two Thangy and Three Thangy bumped into him. One Thangy pointed to the side of the path and said, LOOK!. There standing on the side of the path in the woods was a tree. This tree was not just your normal, everyday tree it was different! About Thangy eye level (which is about three feet), there was a piece missing from the tree. If you looked at the tree right there you could see what was on the other side of the tree. The piece missing was big enough for a Thangy to stick its head in. Thangys are kind of dumb, but not quite dumb enough to stick their head in a tree with a piece missing. The Thangys walked closer to the tree. One Thangy reached over and touched above where the piece was missing. Two Thangy touched below where the piece was missing. Three Thangy waved its hand through the middle. The Thangys were confused so they stood around the tree with the piece missing and talked about it. After a while, they started walking again. They were about half way up the hill when One Thangy froze and put its hands above its head. Two Thangy and Three Thangy did the same thing. Two Thangy and Three Thangy walked up to where they were next to One Thangy. Within spitting range of them was a tiger standing across the path. The tiger was over four feet tall and about five feet long from head to tail. Just like their house and the tree, there was a big piece missing from the middle of the tiger. Normally they would have taken off running when they saw a tiger, but they were so shocked at seeing the piece missing from the middle that all they could do was stare. One Thangy leaned over and touched the tigers neck. Two Thangy stepped forward and pulled the tigers tail (not a good idea to pull a tigers tail). The tiger growled and Two Thangy let go. Three Thangy lifted its leg and kicked right through the middle of the tiger. The tiger did not move so the Thangys walked thru the middle of the tiger and continued their walk. The Thangys had only walked about a half-mile when they saw a large rock blocking the road. They tried to look around it but it was too wide. They tried to look over it but it was too high. What they could see was that there was a piece missing from the middle of the rock. Just like before when they saw the piece missing from the house, the tree, and the tiger Thangy One touched above the missing piece, Thangy Two touched below the missing piece. As Thangy Three reached out to touch the missing piece, he tripped and fell forward. Thangy One and Thangy Two just stood there while Thangy Three disappeared into the rock. So what did they do? ---They talked about it. Finally Thangy One and Thangy Two decided to go in the rock and find Thangy Three. They grabbed each others arms and jumped at the rock. They fell in the rock. Once Thangy One got inside the rock, it stretched its hand out as far as possible in front of its face. Slowly Thangy One moved its hand closer to its face until Thangy One felt the hand pushing in on its nose. You see, it was dark inside the rock so dark that you could not see the end of your nose. Thangy One didnt know this. Thangy One and Thangy Two started calling out for Thangy Three. They tried to move around, but kept running into the side of the rock. Finally, Thangy Three yelled back and told them it was dark and he could not see anything. Even though they couldnt see each other they still stood around and talked. They talked about the missing part of the house, the missing piece of the tree, the missing piece of the tiger, the missing piece of the rock, and how dark it was. All of a sudden Thangy Three screamed! Thangy Three had a candle in its pocket! Thangy Three took it out and shouted, Look at this! Of course the other two Thangys couldnt see it because it was dark. When Thangy Three figured this out, it shouted, I have a candle! Thangy Three held the candle high but still could not see anything. Once again, it was time for the Thangys to talk. They had a candle but still could not see. There was a piece missing from their house, a tree, a tiger, a rock, and nobody knew what else. On top of all these problems, they were stuck inside a rock with a candle that was not lit! As soon as they said it, the Thangys realized what their problem was the candle was not burning. Thangy Three reached inside its pocket and pulled out a match. Thangy Three lit the match and then the candle. Suddenly all the Thangys could see around them and the place where the rock was open. They ran for the hole in the rock and almost fell over each other as they went through the opening. When they turned around, the rock was whole again no piece missing. The Thangys were so shocked that they didnt even stop to talk about it they just took off walking kind of fast back down the trail. They passed by the tiger that was missing his middle --- it was whole. They passed by the tree that Thangy Two had put his hand through --- it was whole. They got to their house and opened the door. The piece missing from the back wall was there again! Thangy Two put the candle that was still lit on the table and they all sat down. I have never seen a living tiger with a piece missing from the center, but I have seen some people that were missing peace. Im not talking about p-i-e-c-e, but about p-e-a-c-e. Many people (including boys and girls) are walking around with something missing in their lives. They are missing the peace that Jesus gives. Having a Bible in your hand without Jesus in your heart is like having an unlit candle in your pocket. Until that candle is lit, it does not shine. Until you let Jesus into your heart, His light cant shine through you. When you have Jesus in your heart, His will shine and others will see Jesus in you. In John 8:12, Jesus says I am the light of the world.. If you dont have Jesus in your heart, now is the time to ask Him in so that you can have the peace that only He can give. If Jesus is already in your heart, make sure that your light is shining so that others can see Jesus in you! ****** In His Service, Allen R.
