I am going to try that, it sounds good. Necessity IS the mother of
invention. Your grandmother did the best she could with what she had. When
we were home missionaries, sometimes the cupboard would be bare and the girls
would come home from school starving. One day, I melted a stick of margerine
in a skillet and sprinkled garlic powder in it. Then I added a couple of
cups of Cheerios and voila! garlic buttered Cheerios! My own invention about
25 yrs ago, and it suited us fine. I still do it now and then. A friend's
grandpa would butter saltines and broil them. He called it cracker pie. It
is good and filling. Sometimes I add cinnamon sugar to the top when they are
browned.

Here's a new one a friend just served us in her home. It's called
cheeseburger salad. You make your salad from torn lettuce, chopped tomatoe
and onion. Brown hamburger crumbled, cool add to the lettuce and squirt
mustard lightly and catsup lightly top off with shredded cheddar cheese. It
was surprizingly tasty. Although it might work against that new proposal.,
