Currently troop 328 has 6 patrols of 7-8 boys, and next week we pick up 14 new "crossovers" from Webelows..
*I work as a Assist.Scoutmaster with those young 10 1/2 to 11-12 year olds to get them blended into the troop for one year before they vote to remain a patrol or split into the other's SPL (Senior Patrol Leader) is my son Josh.. His "Hero" is GW Bush, so he is expert at deligating tasks<G> SPL has that job for one year as well.. Josh has a staff of older boys that help him with *Program each week... The "Program" is planned at monthly PLC (Patrol Leader Councils) meeting attended by Scoutmaster and led by Josh.. *There the Patrol Leaders get the "Idea" of what is going on (Information) and also have input into how the program is going to get done. The troop is all weather-all year campers so each mo. is an Outdoor camp, Hike or event. Food can be handled as a Troop or as individual patrols cooking for themselves.. The Troop considers itself a "Backpacking/Hikeing Troop" so there is zero luggage.. *everything must fit in a Backpack that you will carry into camp. In situations where we "tailgate camp" or can drive to the campsight.. the boys bail out about a mile or two and hike in with packs as the drivers continue to the sight. (My job..) At a camp, the patrols camp togather as a small group and are left on their own, *pretty much<G> (This Scout tradition has been knocked pretty hard by Royal Ranger leaders who were scouts and didn't know what was going on<G>) Day activities are up to the Patrol leaders and SPL Staff..
