Hey Gang, Now you have had time to think about the situation I spoke about a few days ago, here is what I did and the reason why I posed that question.
My first reaction was to tell the coach where to go (in no uncertain terms). The referees back would have backed me up, but I tended to the causality. The coach continued to make demands that she be moved. After 5 minutes I had had enough of this guy. So I grab my folder where I record all the people I treat (I have to do this as a First Aider on a Duty). I asked the coach if he was willing to sign one of the forms saying he was refusing treatment for this girl. He said as long as it will get her off the court he'd sign anything. To that I replied, "Right, Sue (not her real name) you can now sue this idiot for every cent he's got. Now will you sign?" he looked dumbfounded. The Organisers can down and kicked the coach out of the complex. He is now threatening to write a letter of complaint to the Commissioner of St John's about my conduct. I have no worries about this as I did everything by the book and St. John's hierarchy will support me in this. Now, sometimes we are like this coach. We see someone who is "stopping the game" of Royal Rangers and we want them moved out of the way. But remember Jesus died for that children and he is precious in his sight. "Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."" (Mat 19:14). In each situation we have a choice to be like the coach or to get down and get "dirty" with the child. This means loving the unlovable, helping those you don't want to help, be a friend and sometimes father to the unfriended. In others words, being Jesus for that child. Post Script. I found out last night that the coach had rang the Commissioner of St. John's to complain. Mrs Purdy rang my Regional Duty Officer who rang me and told him what I did. He said I did the right thing and they were backing me. They have now demanded that the coach apoligse to me and the girl. There's a storm coming, our Storm. PROCLAIMING GOD'S LOVE TO A DYING WORLD Say to the captives, 'come out,' and those in darkness, 'Be free!' Isaiah 49:9 I looked to the heavens to where God dwells I looked into my life to see he lives there as well.
