T-shirt and Jeans sometimes are the right uniform of the day depending of the function. All I am saying is we do not have to dress in camouflage or military looking. A "C" class uniform is fine. In camouflage who are we trying to hide from? Just joking! Here, there, or in the air!!! ----- Original Message ----- From: Shane Reidelberger Sent: Wednesday, May 01, 2002 10:42 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [RR] Uniform Practicality All, I'm going to try to clear the water here before the mud gets any thicker. From what I can tell, the bottom line the this uniform contraversy has very little to do with the changes that are happening and more to do with how practical the uniform is for the individual Ranger. If I'm wrong, then I surrender the soapbox to the next brave soul. Otherwise... I think the practicality of the uniform varies from Ranger to Ranger and from one situation to the next. I think you all will agree that Class A's just don't work on campouts, period. By the same token, jeans and Ranger t-shirts are inappropriate for the awards presentation during Sunday morning church. The only question now is, "what about the regular outpost meeting?" I confess that my Wednesday night uniform is jeans with my ever faithful Ranger t-shirt and ballcap. Same goes for the rest of our commanders, including our pastor. Why? Because the uniform is just not practical for our meetings. Between playing kickball and the a/c not working, I thank God for Ranger t-shirts. Don't get me wrong. I'm all for following regulations but you gotta throw in some common sense and consider your own comfort. I like to be relaxed in our meetings, not sweating to death just because the regs say I have to be in uniform.
Just as a side note, Iron Mike gave a great idea the other day. He suggested plain tan colored BDU's as a uniform for activities. Not camoflage! But just plain solid tan/khaki colored BDU's complete with patches if you like. I think thats a great idea for outdoor activities. We could call it the "PRU", The "Practical Ranger Uniform".
Just a few thoughts... GOD BLESS!
Shane
