Yes I am going to do what I've been wanting to do, however, it is not
directly in Royal Rangers.

Chief Flaming Hair is going through training to be a certified Hunters'
Education Instructor. I went to my first challenge this weekend with hubby
Chris who is already a HEI. We went to T-YHEC, Texas Youth Hunters'
Education Challenge, this weekend. Saw 39 young men and ladies ages 12-19
shoot .22's, shotguns, blackpowder, archery, work their way through
orienteering (sp?), skills test, wildlife identification.

These kids were so courteous and respectful it was incredible. I have seen
my church kids that could use a dose of what these kids have had.

It was great! This challenge has been going on for 11 years and they have
been trying to get Royal Rangers involved for 6 of those years...hmmm.
There is an equivalent for this in every state in the Union. We met with
the National Director of the program and he asked us if we were willing to
host the challenge next year...hee hee. Will keep those of you interested
posted on the outcome and also for those of you who are interested I will be
happy to give you contact information.

Also I met with a couple of ladies in an organization for "Outdoor Women"
who get together monthly. I am hoping that I can get with them and get some
form of local women's ministry happening that will bring in a whole new kind
of woman, the kind that never felt comfortable with all those "sweet
genteel" woman usually found in WMs. Now before I ruffle any feathers,
please note that I love our Women's ministry, love secret pals, but too much
sugar is just not healthy for the body (this one especially = ) and I
believe that there are women out there who don't participate because the are
uncomfortable.

Cool thing is the only limitations on women are those they impose on
themselves = )

My husband says he can't wait to see me participate in blackpowder and all
the rest. He has seen my frustration over time and the way it has hindered
myself.

How funny is that? Chief Flaming Hair in blaze orange and khaki, with her
HEI patch on one arm and her NRA patch on the other? Hahahahaha!

I am so excited I can't stand it! I was in tears thanking the Lord all the
way to work today for the possibility of new outreaches, closer walk with my
husband and children (they had such a blast!), and a new way to give glory
to the Father and share His love.

Know it is long and somewhat off topic, but had to share and thought there
might be an interest out there amongst those around the cyber fire.

Be blessed,

Kelly Gist
