Due to the fact that the new program, is replacing the old merit system with cloth patches for the vest and a # colored bar ribbons for the khaki uniform shirts. There will not be single merit recognition bar ribbons. Boys with a chest full of awards, with up to 18 merits showing are going to be a thing of the past.. It will most likely be about 3 colored bar ribbons with a number in the middle of them. Showing the amount from one category you received them. This is fine and will look more like the commander class "B" type of awards and I have no problems with it. I just want you to look at this idea and see if this out of the box concept is feasible. I believe it could work well within the Ranger program without causing any revamp of thinking, very little expense, minor details or work from the commander, no paper work from the national offices, no book training and not effecting any areas of advancements. "WHAT" are Recognition Awards This idea is taken from the concept of JROTC. There is certain achievements that all schools award to students, such as: Perfect Attendance, A-B Honor Roll, Athletic abilities, scholastic achievements, and the list goes on and on. Usually schools have an awards ceremony and hand out a paper certificate award of some kind to honor every student that deserves them.JROTC has realized that "IF" you promote local school values within the school process of award ceremonies. Then you help cause recognition of YOUR OWN program agenda. Look at this web-site to see these awards ideas. We don't have to use the same colors or styles, this is just to give you an idea. http://www.jrotc.org/air_force_awards.htm They do this with bar ribbon awards, and they look very similar to the merit awards that Royal Rangers already recognize. They also are awarded in uniform during school awards day and go on the uniform in the same location as merit awards. This incentive of recognition is one of the greatest ways of allowing a boy to enjoy his accomplishments and achievements and show them off to his school peers with pride. Royal Rangers can also promote this concept within your local schools and cause a landslide of positive advertisement of your church's ministry through the community.
"HOW" are Recognition Awards goals accomplished? Easily with very little work for the commander or boy to do, if any. The school is the organization that takes care of all accomplishments and achievements. They are the ones aware of all those that need awards. A list can be acquired from the offices of everyone that is on your list (Outpost) that is receiving an award. If you are like our local school program. The local schools promote attendance to any event involving students succeeding and want their parents or community there. The Administration enjoys having adults come and see what the children have done this past six weeks or semester. All that a Commander needs to have is the list of boys that day who are being honored be at the award ceremonies and have enough recognition ribbons available to hand out. To your boys that are apart of your Outpost. The boys and the commander will be in uniform that hour of school they hand out awards. Others as well as parents will see this as a wonderful addition to helping the student's improvements, morale, and good behavior. It's a WIN WIN combination for your church, school, outpost and especially the boys which is our main goal. "WHY" haveRoyal Ranger Recognition Awards? The purpose is to promote the confidence and academic skills of boys within the educational system and to exhibit the Royal Ranger's ministry as a witness to the local schools, parents, and community. To add the recognition of each boy as a important part of the whole boy and to recognize that we as a Christian boys program are concerned with each boy in every area of his life. To give an incentive of achievements to the those that deserve honor where honor is due and to excite others to also reach these goals.Recognition awards are not merits. Neither are they requirements for Rank, advancements, and or a part of the GMA medal. They stand alone on their own accomplishments. They are a part of honor, pride, and the incentive of every boy that achieves positive awards among his peers outside the church environment. This not only opens many more doors for the church but draws the parents community, and schools values towards embracing us as a institution of personal values that they believe is important too. When we as a church can cause the community to except us on common ground and embrace the virtues of integrity, honor, and good behavior in everyday life. Then we have a window of opportunity of reaching thousands of families that before were closed to us due to non exposure of the Royal Ranger program. In summary, these awards can accomplish new concepts to promote, witness, excel, and honor boys within your outpost for Christ. It will gain you access within the community and blaze a new trail for reaching boys and possibly whole families for Christ. It sets your organization at a higher standard, through values that every adult, student, and teacher believes is important to the overall growth of children. This comfortable exposure of Royal Rangers within the school system and community could accomplish more for you as a church outreach than possibly any other witness we do for the Lord.
A. Royal Rangers could we make this dream happen?? B. Could this be an easy way to help promote boys to succeed? C. This could even be a option to the outpost and be for pioneers down. D. It could also only cover about 3 to 6 awards such as: Perfect Attendance, A-B Honor Roll, Good Conduct, Leadership, or any school type. Or just limit to the same ones that the school promotes. LEADERS AGAIN THIS IS JUST A SURVEY IDEA I AM THINKING ABOUT, AND JUST WANT YOUR COMMENTS, SUGGESTIONS, MORE DETAILS OF MAKING THIS WORK, ETC.
