*I'm READY for anything! ANYTHING! Commander Johnnie was leaning on a Ponderosa Pine, when a 14 year old Trailblazer Sr.Guide asked him: "So.. there were lots of boys to call out for FCF.. why me?" Johnnie smiled and replied in his soft Texas drawl: "well i figured you to be a number one kind of Royal Ranger.. am I right?" "Yes sir..." The night before Royal Rangers founder, had spoken about the nature of the Pioneers and Trailblazer explorers of America, how they had left the settlements and became challanged to find their way in the wilderness. Some found success and some faded from memory, and some returned to lead others. Some Mt.men later found new roles as guides to travelers on the way west.. He said that we as Royal Rangers carried the spirit of the later- That we were to be sent out as adventureers in this life, and the walk might be a discovery that we were to become the leaders of tomorrow. Was *I special? Nope.. just a Ranger doing what a Ranger should do. I was 14 and advanced rate in trailblazers, Sr.Guide of my Outpost that was attending Camp Pinecrest July 1966 Was *I alone? Nope.. 4 other boys and 5 other men plus three "by virtue of rank" make up the charter FCF group. Did *I listen close?... *Yup, it stuck with me. *Something good happened, like a fire that needs to be tended and cared for, like a story that needs telling for those that come.
