I qualify for "ever- leader" so here goes- > 1. What is the reason for Royal Rangers? I'm feeling there was good reasons to start Royal Rangers in 1962 as the Bible was removed from public school, and Boy Scouts began to accept public funding and the associated requirements for open membership. Scouts held as a point of order that a scout should show respect for the faith and culture of others while participating in your individual church with a expressed "Duty to God". Foundational princeipals in the Assemblies doctrine's wanted more freedom to act in evangelical mission than the BSA guidelines, and to avoid conflict or confrontation a complete new program was invented. Their had been a great "awakening" in Men during the 1940's about this country and returning WW2 vet's had shared life in groups with a chain of command. The format might have been invented to speed training for war, but it was beleved it could be useful for developing a boys program. The "Men's fellowship" of Churches was given oversight to use Royal Rangers as an outreach and ministry to young men. It was thought that involvement would effect the Men as well as boys for the better in participateing in something unique, but also foundational to joining young Men to the church with religious instruction and wholesome activities. > 2. Why does my church have Royal Rangers? Your church may or may not have Royal Rangers. There are many reasons pro and con, but often it is seen as a basic ministry to boys because of it's longevity and close traditional ties to Assemblies of God ministries. Often times, as it is a Lay led ministry.. by men, it seems ready made for the "Family Night" companion to "Missionettes" and Adult Bible study with Pastor.. (*Baby sitting) This "fills out the church bulliten" for activities and makes a inroad for participation in the social activites of a Church. > 3. Why do I do Royal Rangers? You do Royal Rangers for many reasons stated and un-stated. It's a NOBEL CAUSE.. All of us have the desire to *belong to a social group. All of us have the desire to *Have a purpose.. We want to share what we can, and in doing so it lifts our spirit and allows us to bless the Lord with our life. It let's others know we are multi-dementional and shows or human condition, our strengths and weaknesses, and provides *meaning.. When done well, it also is just plain fun<G> > While it is our mission is to Reach, Teach and Keep boys for Christ. I > can't help but wonder if we sometimes use this as a "cover" to be in > line with national. I agree, *I think.. Many Men need to be recognized, praised and respected for their works. Royal Rangers provides a format that is understandible and uses boys in ways to build self-esteam... "National" as a "word" sounds to me like a belief structure that holds the framework for the respect gained by working at a local level. Your Pastor has his peer group to support him, and he shows pride in the many achievements of your Church, and shares that with his "supervisiors" in reports..or dispatches to HeadQuarters. I didn't grow up anywhere near Springfield,Mo but assume it to be a powerfull experiance to be near the center of "Headquarters" for it seems true that "*Information is power" and if we are informed by personal relationships.. our status is raised. Untill recently, the concept of "Headquarters HQ" was simular to the hub of a wheel when information was passed.. and We who work in the field were the rim or tires that "met the roadbed" Our relationship to the "HQ Hub" was thru the "spokes" that connected the hub to our region. *Rangernet subverts that format<G> I am not a Hub or a "Spoke" and in fact might be a spare tire throw off by hitting a bump in the road<G> HA!HA! *So traditionaly, my voice would be silent to the on-going journey... Rangernet provides us at the rim.. to talk to others thru our "connectedness" via the Internet. *This radical invention then allows endless comminication and the compareing of notes on what is up with the "Hub"<G> There no doubt that the old-boy network is uncomfortable with open comminication, asking questions and recieveing information this way<G> *But along with the ability to yabber- comes new blessings and encouragement to balance the considerations of the "Hub"... *So all this is in fact a Democratic forum, in a Domination culture<G> Cool huh! GOD BLESS THE USA! On question three esp. its so easy to say to:" > reach, teach and keep boys for Chirst." > I think its good to in line with national. *Of course<G> They need us too,you know<G> Togather we are a "wheel team<G>" BigBear -=A=- I also think each leader > needs his or her reason or reasons for doing Rangers. > Chew on it, if unliked spit it out. > > Later, > Noel"Spirit Rider"Bell > > > > ===== *High MORALE is the Index of effective Leadership. --------------********+********-------------------- Morale raises belief of the Leader in the follower, of the follower in the Leader, of each in themself, and both in the .....cause! __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
