Dont Hit the Pylon! In prayer a few weeks ago, I asked God for some help in dealing with some obstacles that were in our way. He answered with an analogy from motorcycle riding lessons. When riding through a slalom course made of pylons, the instructor told us repeatedly not to look at the pylons, but at the path around them. The reason for that is that when you concentrate on the obstacle, that is where you drive, and you hit it. When you concentrate on the path around the obstacle, that is where you drive. You know, he was right! It isnt like you dont see the obstacles, but they are relegated to your peripheral vision. Where you focus is where you go. We choose to concentrate our focus on Jesus Christ, because He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. (John 14:6) God has indeed saved us from many kinds of trouble, lately. Glory be to Jesus Christ, our Lord! Changes in Progress For some years we have thought about adopting a foreign infant, but because of circumstances, we didnt take action. The desire was still there, but seeing that we were already making so many CHANGES in our family, we thought it best to wait it out and see. WELL we have the opportunity to adopt an Asian infant (between 9-20 months) through the Inter-Country Adoption Board of the Republic of the Philippines, and we believe that the Lord is giving us a green light to apply. The Papua New Guinea government is the mediator between us and the Philippine agency. We have started filling out the paperwork. Once it is sent off, we will have to wait and see if we are accepted as an adoption family. If we are accepted then they will try to find a match for us through a host of adoption agencies in the Philippines. When the time comes that we have a match, we will travel to the Philippines and pick-up our new daughter! As you can imagine, this will be an adjustment for our whole family. The boys have been in on this from the start and are thrilled at the prospect of a little sister. We estimate that this process will take something between nine months and two years (hopefully sooner rather than later). Prayer Requests * Effectiveness in ministry (Eph. 6:18-20) * Health for our whole family (1 Pet. 2:24) * Protection from any evil (Ps. 91) * Divine favor in the adoption process (Prov. 11:27) * Provision for all our needs, including housing & transportation (Ps. 35:27) * Blessings on all our partners (Gal. 3:13-14) Home, Sweet Home It is good to be home in Ukarumpa, again, after a productive WordWorks software developers conference in Dallas this September. I was able to see a few of you on this quick trip, although there is no way I could see everyone in just the few extra days I had in the USA. We are looking forward to a slightly longer trip to the USA next June with the whole family, and hope to see more of you, then. We have an opportunity to possibly buy a house in Ukarumpa. Please pray that we would be sensitive to the Holy Spirit in making this decision. Thank you very much for your prayers, support, and encouragement. It is our sincere prayer that God would bless you greatly and credit you with whatever fruit we produce for the Kingdom of God and Gods Word always bears fruit.
