Bro.Mark- The USA joined WW1 late in the Great war "to end all wars" I was told we won WW2 to rid the world of tyrants.. then I was taught that Godless Communisum was the enemy, and if we didn't fight'em in the jungle, they'd be sipping A&W Root beer on Main street USA! The facts are- *When did we turn our eyes off those "Threats" and find we could live with a Communist Vietnam just fine? How can we watch Communist CUBA 90 miles away? *Now I "hear" that "terroisum" is the enemy of peace, and that a madman MAY have a bomb. All during the 50's and 60's we flew B-52's SAC loaded with nucular bombs to "Preserve the Peace".. trusting individual commanders of aircraft and subs with this power.. knowing the Other side had simular men with fingers on buttons.. In the course of modern history only ONE country has used nucular bombs in war... The country we THOUGHT was the enemy, built missiles in silos and raced us to achieve many times the power to end human life on this planet! Are they now a friend or foe? We used to talk about "Containment" and "day-taunt" and "diplomacy" and supported civilized redress of grievences in World court and the United Nations. When we wanted to attack and send troops in to support our So.Vietnamese treaty partners.. We waited.. And No.Vietnam obliged us with a patrol boat attack in the Tonkin gulf and we went to the UN with pictures and demanded a RESOLUTION. 10 years later, 54,000 American lives later... nuff said on that "Noble cause". All this isn't writen to convince you of anything- I'm not running a Logic game, or acting in any way other than honest feelings. I'm noteing that with 50 years on this planet as an American, and a Viet-Vet *I see a trend.. enough with talk of WAR!
