Hey all,
Some of you old timers know me and know what 's been happening the past 11 months.
Some of you newbies don't know me from "Adam's housecat."
Been around the cyberfire since almost the beginning. stepped in a lot of mooseberries and greased a lot of axles with vegemite
Been blessed
Been flamed
This past year has been a long rocky trail as we've adjusted to the fact that momma walked out last Christmas. We've learned and loved. Had to drop out of Rangers to minister to my kids. No regrets there but it still hurt to leave something I so dearly loved.
Anyway, as the time passed and we began to approach Christmas again, I finally started counseling.
I've been blessed
I've been liberated
Read Psalm 139.
"Oh lord, You have searched me and You know me."
The Hebrew there (know me) is used in describing the intimacy of sexual union.
No flames, I'm not saying what you think.
The emphasis is on intimacy. It speaks of the fact that God not only knows me intellectually but also emotionally. He feels what I feel the same as a husband and wife feel each others hurts and pleasures.
He's felt my pain.
More than that is what the counsellor pointed out to me later in the Psalm.
I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
He asked me, "Gary, why did God redeem you?"
Stock answer?
"Because He loves me."
"No, it's more than that Gary."
"You are fearfully and wonderfully made."
"Gary, God redeemed you because you are irreplaceable. You are the only Gary Rothwell he's ever made or ever will make. You can give Him something no one else can give Him. Your worship. YOUR worship. That's special to Him."
Fellas and ladies, let's tread very softly around these young ones that we influence. It's not about our agendas or personal axes that we may be trying to grind. It's about these very special, unique, one-of-a-kind people that we have the privilege of leading and ministering to.
A privilege.
Not a right nor a job.
A privilege, an honor.
How He must trust us
