The 2# limit you talk about is for the Unlimited Class. Actually, up to 2#. If I remember right, when they first started the Unlimited Class about 15-20 years ago, there was no limit in weight! You are talking 10# cars which were torturing many tracks. That's why they set the limit at 2#. Also they recomend for this Class that cars be no higher than 6", wider than 3 1/4", and longer than 12". Bearings and bushings are also allowed. This a separate Racing Class than the other groups. Anybody can make an Unlimited car. I've seen some pretty creative ideas from the Unlimited Class.  Shaved wheels are allowed in all the Racing Classes.  My opinion, I don't agree with it. Same reasons as yours. In our Local Church race, we don't allow shaved wheels, but if the Ranger wants to compete at the Section or beyond then it is up to them.

We have never allowed shaving of the wheels in the So Cal. District.  I agree with Mark, that to do so creates a unfair advantage over the boys that don't have the ability to shave them.  In our Section, we have never allowed it in any category period.  Now N. Cal/Nevada allows it and they also allow cars up to 2#, (double kit of course).  We showed some samples off of that type a couple of years ago, but the craze didn't catch on.  I have had zero requests for such a category.
