I believe the answer you need is in John 4:36-38
As Ranger leaders we are all on a harvest "team" with the same purpose in mind ... we have different jobs, some sow the seed, some reap the harvest,  but in the final tally we will all share the reward together. A lot of behind the scenes work goes into bringing a boy to Christ .... the bus driver, outpost council, etc... may never give a devotion that touches a boy's heart but without them that boy may never hear the message. Directly or indirectly we are all soul winners ...

I like the CEV Bible

John 4:36  Even now the harvest workers are receiving their reward by gathering a harvest that brings eternal life. Then everyone who planted the seed and everyone who harvests the crop will celebrate together.
4:37  So the saying proves true, "Some plant the seed, and others harvest the crop."
4:38  I am sending you to harvest crops in fields where others have done all the hard work.

Soul winning is not a requirement

i  would  tend to disagree as christians we are commanded  by God  to preach the good  news to save and make  disciples and  also the ranger creed if you will is  to reach teach  and  keep  boys  for  jesus christ  wouldnt you say that is  soul winning. This  is not intended as a flame just  sharing  my  understanding Harry
