I'd just like to add something to all of this. I am working for the Red Cross, at the
call center designed to assist people with preparing for disaster, and explaining the
Orange Alert. If you have questions about any of the disaster preparednes you can
call 1-866-GET-INFO (438-4636). It is a toll free number and it is staffed 24 hours
a day, 7 days a week. While working here, we receive information from the chapters
across the country, about all the disasters that are hitting every day.
The disaster kit that Tom Ridge is talking about is the same thing the Red Cross has
been teaching for years, with very little in the way of changes. The only difference
between the Red Cross list and the Homeland Security list is a breathing barrier.
Homeland Security recomends something like a painters mask. The Red Cross does not
suggest that, because it will often give a false sense of security.

The list can be found at http://www.fema.gov or http://www.ready.gov (Homeland
Security) and http://www.redcross.org

In each of these the information is the same, because all of the groups work together
to make sure the information that they have is the most accurate.

Also there was mention of the CERT Teams(Community Emergency Rescue Teams). These
were given to FEMA to organize, and were handed over to the American Red Cross in most
areas, due to the DAT teams (Disaster Action Teams) that respond to disasters in the
local comunity. In most Areas the Citizen Corps are run by the local government or
the state Emergeny Agencies. It is good to look into all three of those groups as all
three groups will be doing a lot for there local communities.

In some it is never lit,
Straw and cinders smoking foreveras they float through ghost-life,
They smother in fear,
And die from lack of heat.
