Peter belonged to a sect of Jews called, Zealots. They all carried small swords as their everyday routine. It served a purpose at Jesus' arrest. When Peter cut off the servant's ear, it was a mistake...he MEANT to cut off his WHOLE HEAD! But, Jesus undid the damage and taught us that those who live by the sword die by the sword. Therein is the lesson for the kids. Also, don't you think Jesus knew Peter was "packing"? He knew that Peter was who he was and still chose him. You see, after the betrayal Jesus knew he'd do the right thing. He repented. Powerful word, huh? And we are blessed today partly because Jesus chose him despite his temper impetuousness and impatience. Sound familiar?. _______
