I am sure you realized that this was a whole lot of tongue in cheek, but it did have a point that most common words in English even if they are miss-spelled in the middle are fairly easily recognized.  That is not to say that I support the theory of looking at he whole word versus using phonics as some people subscribe to.    They tried it & taught it to my oldest son & he now can't spell worth 2 cents.  Phonics is a great too & it needs to be taught in all of the schools.
