WARNING: PLEASE READ COMPLETELLY BEFORE RESPONDING!!!!

Lets take a look at the Royal Ranger Pledge:
“With God’s help, I will do my best to serve God, my church, and my
fellowman; to live by the Ranger Code; to make the Golden Rule my daily
 rule”

First of all, as you can plainly read, the pledge doesn’t say anything about
COUNTRY that would be the Boy Scouts pledge, which goes like this:
“On my honor I will do my best To do my duty to God and my COUNTRY and obey
the Scout Law: To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically
strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”
The pledge does say FELLOWMAN, which specifies that we are to serve other
people (human beings, homo sapiens, etc.) but has nothing to do with
patriotism.

Now lets look at the two parts of the Ranger Code that you guys are probable
talking about:
“LOYAL: He is faithful to his church, family, outpost, and friends.”
“OBEDIENT: He obeys his parents, leaders, and those in authority.”
Well both the LOYAL and OBEDIENT section do not mention the word COUNTRY or
have anything to do with patriotism. Let quickly go back to the Boy Scouts:
“LOYAL: A Scout is true to his family, Scout leaders, friends, school, and
nation.”
“OBEDIENT: A Scout follows the rules of his family, school, and troop. He
obeys the laws of his community and country. If he thinks these rules and
laws are unfair, he tries to have them changed in an orderly manner rather
than disobey them.”
Now the Scout law DOES use the word COUNTRY and NATION.

What both the Ranger and Scout OBEDIENT section do address is “obedience to
those in authority” which is Biblically based. HOWEVER the issue I’ve been
trying to address is PATRIOTISM NOT OBEDIENCE. For example, I hate the way
things have been going in this country lately, ESPECIALLY because I know it
is only going to get worse which is why I have no patriotism or pride in
being American anymore. Patriotism (much like being a Christian) comes from
the HEART it is a genuine love (which many of you have for our nation). YOU
CAN’T FORCE SOMEONE TO LOVE A NATION/COUNTRY JUST LIKE YOU CAN’T FORCE
SOMEONE TO ACCEPT CHRIST INTO THIER HEARTS!!! HOWEVER as much anger and
sadness that I have for what’s going on in this country, I’m not going to
start a revolution and start a “crusades” here in this country…why? Because
I respect the laws of this country even if they are being used by the far
left to destroy the Judao-Christian heritage that this country was founded
on. This is why I prefer the Boy Scout’s take on obedience to ones country.
I am OBEDIENT to the laws of this country and that is what “being obedient
to those in authority” is all about and NOT patriotism.

So being a Royal Ranger DOES NOT mean being PATRIOTIC just OBEDIENT and that
is why I shouldn’t be forced to wear the US Flag patch.

Glad you found a forum like Rangernet to express yurself<G>

As to the wear'n/not wear'n of a Flag patch ...consider this:

You are a Ranger because you pledge to"do yur best" follow the Ranger
Code.

You might be a *Liberal.. you might be a *Conservitive..
You can be a Man,Woman, a boy (common) or even a girl

ALL ARE Rangers..
