What does no more and no less mean to a contract?

*Is Integrity.. recieveing the "sign-off" or found in completion of the
requirements?

Young GW Bush fresh from Yale in 1968 joined the Texas Guard
by signing a 6 year toal agreement. This enlisted him in a
unit and released him from the US draft in lue of his previous
student deferment.

Some portion of that agreement was to be training, flight
school and a period of active service followed by a time in
the "Ready Reserve" then followed by transfer to the "Inactive
Reserve" and then discharge or re-enlistment.

I myself was offered a 4 year active term followed by 2 years
in-active reserve. *I selected a 2 year active duty period
that included 3 years of "Ready Reserve" where I was required
to attend weekend drills monthly, Sat. morn to Sunday eve.

At each and every "drill" Attendence was taken at a muster
(Quarters) at the start and the end of the weekend.

I was "allowed" to miss one weekend drill a year, but no more.

Failure to attend without authorized absence would result in
a series of actions to enforce my manditory attendendence.

*Transfer to the inactive reserve required no attendence at drills
or uniformed service. Successful fullfillment of the requirements
resulted in "discharge" under general, medical or Honorable circum-
stances.

The case with President GW Bush is not that he holds a discharge
recorded as Honorable, but what was his requirements with reguard to
attendence when transfering to the Alabama Guard in 1972.

If the transfer was to a "inactive status" that is one thing.
and transfering to a "inactive reserve unit" another<G>

*If then lt. Bush was required by his contract to drill.. He would
have presented his orders at the soonest possible arrivial and been
assigned a "billet" (*Naval term for job position) added to the
mail list and pay record.

His personal record would reflect that.

1972 however is pre-computer and I can understand that over the years
such history may be lost. But I susspect another truth exists..

It is possible that a young GW Bush had his fill of the Texas guard
and waited to be contacted, moved again and in the process did not
care to keep his unit informed of his situation. At some point, his
records show he failed to present himself for flight physical and was
administratively grounded.

In time the mail caught up to Lt. Bush and he felt it important to
come in and report. I beleve he made a case of some sort explaining
his absence as well as his firm plans to attend Harvard Business School.

*I speculate... Bush himself can't remember.

There are ways to address such missing time in the record by the
US Military. Lt.Bush is a very lucky and priviliged young man.
No punitive action was ordered.

Conclusion-

Honorable discharge? *yes..
Pay records in Texas? *yes..

Missing from assigned duty? *yes
Expected to report? *Yes
AWOL? Affirmitive.
