What I learned at the Camporama last time is that people from different parts of the country have different names for things.   Some kid came up to me at the Camporama and asked me if I knew what a Tallywhacker was?  I looked at him funny. I asked him where he was from and he told me Northern Missouri. Well, I'm from the Washington DC area and I have never heard the term used before, so I had to ask the kid "what is a Tallywhacker?" He told me it was a term used for a soldier fighting the Taliban.  Now If I was to go back up to Boston, where I started out in this world,  for instance, and request a soda or a soda pop at a restaurant or something they would look at me funny because they don't call it that in Boston. They call it "tonic"  Now here in the DC area, a "tonic" is something that you use for hair care and/or can be a slang term for an alcoholic beverage or a medicine.
    I think that this is one of those instances of where you have to learn the un-abridged dictionary by osmosis (sleeping on it)

Manuel,

i Hola hermano !

You should try the yucca as a French fry sometime. It's an experience. We gave some to the Bolivians when I was there and they liked them.  They didn't understand them, but they liked them.
We just told them it was an American/Canadian thing.

Mike;

You're not the only one confused. And you're right, as I understand "Yuca" is a a root that is similar to the potato. I've eaten it, but not in the form of french fries. Probably Mark knows it as a kind of wood of something of that nature.

Mark,

When you say Yuka, is that the same Yuka that is a root and similar to a
potato? I'm just not understanding at the moment. We used to have Yuka all
the time in South America. We would cook them like french fries and they
weren't bad. Almost taste like Wendy's french fries.
