I went to the Sportsman show in Oregon and admired a particular kind of
dory boat
made for drifting the wide and free flowing rivers that are so available
out west...

At a booth stood a man, and his face beamed....

I caught his eye and he came over, and we began to talk<G>

I told him how beautiful his boats were..
and he smiled and said: "You could build one...just like this.."

*It got me thinking...that I could<G>

I sell kits... or will sell you this boat.. whatever it takes to get you
on the water!

I mentioned my best "fish head story" and he listened and it seemed he
had never heard a fish story before<G>
I ended telling it.. and he through back his head and laughed like
Santa! The sound of his laughter made my heart warm..

*Then he said..: "I know where more fish are... some the size of
footballs and some
that will dislocate your arm when they strike... as purty as these boats
are... they all look better with fish blood in the bottom<G>"

That did it... I was falling<G>

I wanted to go where this guy was leading... He had something I wanted,
and I felt willing to make the effort to
do what was needed to make this dream come true!

It should be that way with Royal Rangers...

Boys should see something in the leaders both boys and men that makes
them want to be a part of something good...
To do that.. it has to be good<G> This Fishing Guide was a fantastic
salesman... he wove dreams with product<G>
and you sold yourself!

At NTC '96 "The Great Rain Training" I was cold, tired, wet and numb....
and came to a warm room
where Men greeted me by name. They took my hand... welcomed me with a
smile. That warm feeing
flooded my heart for the men that were there that night. *Thanks Bob
Doughty! *Thanks Razorback!

*But that should be the experiance a boy has in attending our groups..

How can we become that kind of Ranger Salesman?

Smile.
