The second level of leadership is relationships As the Sr Commander of our Outpost I have tried to improve my leadership skills but I feel like I am stuck somewhere in level two. While thinking about one of the problems we are having with outpost which is a leadership issue involving Trailblazers the solution came to me. I have spend very little time with these commanders. So my goal is to begin a relationship with these men (not based on Royal Rangers) and in doing so I hope to have the kind of influence that Maxwell refers to as leadership. It may be that they will minister to me as much as I to them. James >From John Maxwell's book; Developing the Leader Within You, The Five Levels of Leadership Level 1: Rights: People follow because they have to. Note: your influence will not extend beyond the lines of your job description. The longer you stay here, the higher the turnover and lower the morale. Level 2: Relationships: People follow because they want to. Note: People will follow you beyond your stated authority. This level allows work to be fun. Caution: Staying to long on this level without rising will cause highly motivated people to become restless. Level 3: Results People follow because of what you have done for the organization. Note: This is where success is sensed by most people. They like you and what you are doing. Problems are fixed with very little effort because of momentum. Level 4: Reproduction People follow because of what you have done for them. Note: This is where long-range growth occurs. Your commitment to developing leaders will insure ongoing growth to the organization and to people. Do whatever you can to achieve and stay on this level. Level 5: Respect People follow because of who you are and what you represent. Note: This step is reserved for leaders who have spend years growing people and organizations. Few make it. Those who do are bigger than life. _______ To unsubscribe, send "unsubscribe rangernet" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] "Eat the hay & spit out the sticks! - A#1's mule" RTKB&G4JC! http://rangernet.org Autoresponder: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
