*This Day- In 1962 a poet Robert Frost recited a poem of his at the Inauguration of president John Kennedy ...it spoke of AMERICA THE LAND THAT WE HAD CLAIMED... even before we had become.."Americans" In flowing terms it told us that we were Americans before independence.. I was thinking.. that if their was a "Perfect Outpost" in the future.. Someone will then look back to our conversations, and hold that we were members even before such a group existed..<G> That makes me today a member of the "Perfect outpost!" *Like looking back for us at "futureistic" dreams...of the past.. the reality will show we got some things right and some things completely foolish<G> We'll see.....time will tell! Today some of us are involved in the changes to the new Ranger program.. ..and it is very hard to see out 30 or 40 years. It's easy to bog down in decideing what to carry over, and what to drop. Cdr.Johnnie could not 'see this far into the future... the "boys of '62" and those who followed was enough to handle.. But if we know that we own some land... (*some boys ages 5 to 18...) and we know where we come from... the destiny isn't that far away.. *Remember that the Perfect Outpost will read this message in the future! All that I say will be a mix of "right-on" and "Oh-no!" *but they will know how they got to where they are!<G> Bravo "Perfect Outpost!" you exist! I have dreamed of you... *come and get me.. prop me up in the corner<G> Perhaps we will learn, that it is what the boys carry away that best describes who we were and what we were about. More than you and me it is about them!
