Brothers,
Concerning the pokemon let us be as wise as serpents and harmless as doves. We all
know who we are fighting against. The evil powers of darkness, not people. It is our
duty as Christian men and leaders to be examples in our churches. At times this means
guiding gently and showing the danger or pitfall that may not be apparent to the ones
we are trying to warn. Kinda like if you were on a hike with some boys and you saw a
rattlesnake poised to strike and no one else did.
I, myself, was rather neutral concerning the pokemon. I have three sons 10,13,14 but
they were not really into this pokemon thing.
As I have heard more and more about the origins of this craze I have had second
thoughts. I don't like it when others start seeing a devil under every bush. I try to
take the stance that Paul did about meat sacrificed to idols. Again, our mission is to
lead people not turn them off if we can help it.
Anyway, I went to work and had an interseting conversation with a Christian co-worker
who is retired Navy and into computers heavily.
It seems that Pokemon has been around a long time in Japan in Cartoons and animation.
In fact the "super heroes" of the Japanese cartoons use their pokemons as weapons and
control over situations and people.
This last statement tends to point us to occultic colorings.
What concerned me about what I heard is the fact that the same pokemons in Japan are
used in extremely pornographic cartoons. And that these cartoons are available to
download off the internet by unsuspecting parents and kids. What is worse is that
these cartoons are interactive, they are games, which draw the user into vicarious
sexual acts with the cartoon. Sounds wild I know, But true none the less. I don't
have my co-worker's e-mail address but I will get it and post it, so you can
communicate directly with him. In the meantime you might want to warn parents that
these "games" are out there, and even if it says Pokemon, it may be TERRIBLE sexual
perversion.
