We Royal Rangers are a curious bunch... We desire adventure and success, but are amazed at the low rates of involvement of our boys in a traditional Royal Ranger outpost... Tho the patrol is a proven system of administration of organization.. "Commander's" dismiss it as un-workable. "Who made that patrol thing up?" How silly... We want organization... but do not plan our meetings and fall back on the "couch" when training is offered. We make excuses and wonder at why things are set aginst our efforts.. and easily point fingers at parents-men's ministry-the church and even the boys! Clearly we are "NOT READY FOR ANYTHING!" *If we were "Ready" We'd be hungry for success and willing to try NEW THINGS! We'd be encouragers...promoters..salesmen for the cause! We'd boldly go where no Ranger has gone before! *uP-HILL! Our Rangers would come "prepared" anxious for the meeting to start! ...falling over to get an advancement signed off, or to lead in the pledges! HAPPY and "into each other as friends!" True Friends! *If we were READY! our patrols would be named: Eagles!- flying high! Wolves! running togather as a pack! Badgers! Firece warriors! Hawks! -on the hunt, from -above! But we are NOT ready! ------------------------ Mayby the boys come.. some in uniform some not. No one has earned a thing and never ever looked at the handbook. They wander..scrap and mis-behave, question leadership and disrupt. Though boy leaders are appointed or chosen.. they do not do anything. the universal answer they give is: "Who me?" The patrols don't know who they are- or care for each other... No communiucation between each other, no phone trees no expectations.. No events-camps-hikes-cookouts... *and it's a give away sham program. They are: The Sheep! -grazers of whatever.. Slugs! -laying at the back door.. Buzzards! waiting for the dead to feed on. Snakes! poision vipers laying in wait... How do I know this? Why do I care? ...I've been there! If you have the "feeling" you know it all.. watch out the floor is about to cave in!<G> Here's a clue to the light at the end of the tunel! *Ready? Be alert! Be clean! Be Honest! show Courage!
