I'm GMA # 346 in the US and my son is GMA # 3660. So I know what it took,
and what it currently takes to get the GMA.
I have seen the plans for the new program, and I don't see how you can
claim that the GMA under the new program will be "easier" or in someway
cheapen my GMA or that of my son. Believe me, that has always been one of
my concerns whenever the advancement trail has been changed (as it was
before my son earned his GMA).
The key benefit of the new program is that commanders will be better
equipped to help boys earn the GMA. Few commanders, and even fewer boys,
really understand what it takes to earn the GMA under the existing system.
With the new advancement system and written meeting plans, there will be a
more structured path to the GMA. The end result may be that more boys will
be able to learn and experience everything that they need to qualify for
the GMA. Shouldn't that be one of our goals, along with our mission of
reaching, teaching, and keeping boys for Christ?
