*I've mentioned some BSA High Adventure activities in recent posts..
and wanted to show you what *they do and have as activities..

The New Program is proposeing a "Extream Sport" theam.. and I beleve
that will sell very well, but produceing the activity made be a streach
for
a local Outpost. *It is for Boy Scout Troops..

They have created out of their summer camp program adventures where
experts in the "high adventure" teach on sight the skills needed and
guide
the troop and even the leaders.. so that the total experiance is not on
the back
of one local man beyond setting up the "package adventure"..

My "History" is all Royal Ranger...

To fuel the "fire" in my Outpost in the sixties my Dad subscribed me
to "Boys Life" and I beleve I read every issue cover to cover<G>

I attended RR NTC '96 at Donner Mine camp and returned to my outpost
with a desire to impliment the Patrol methiod.... that reserch led me
back to
Scouting.. *Not to compare but to "improve" my local outpost. In the
process
my son and wife and myself have been pleased with what we have found in
our excellent Troop.

When grazeing on a Hay bale.. *take what you want, and let the rest fall
to the ground..

*I honestly desire a better Ranger experiance than the one I
facilitated...
because I had a quality time as a Royal Ranger<G> and pictures of
Philmont
and the stories these Houston scouters tell is right up my ally<G>

Thanks...

Title: The Troop 806 Philmont Photo-Journal
Philmont

The 624-E1 Photo-Journal

On June 23, 1996, Houston, TX based Troop 806 waved goodbye to its first high adventure crew in four years. Eighteen hours, two pathetic meals, and a short night's sleep later, the six scouts and four advisors that made up crew 624-E1 finally arrived at Philmont National Scout Ranch, a self proclaimed "scouting paradise." After a day of paperwork at basecamp, the crew finally began their ten day backpacking trek. This is our story, in what we beleive to be a completely unique form.

We put up this resource partially to help us remember our experiences over the ten days, but also to help others who may be planning a trip to Philmont, or any other long term excursion. But most importantly, we put it up for fun. We hope you'll enjoy what we've done -- we're awfully proud of it.

To get started, just click on the "Map" button below. Or, if you'd rather, a complete guide to the map's symbols can be found under "Map Key".

For the impatient or the bandwith impaired, our new textual links should allow you to browse the site without as much waiting. If you don't want to wait for the maps to download, just use the textual links at the bottom of each page to go to the journal entries. If you don't want your browser to try to load the maps at all (they're pretty big) just hit the "Stop" button after the page starts to load, and the textual links should be visible.

After you've gone to the map and seen our photo-journal, please check out the other resources at this site. And, when you're all done be sure to tell me (the webmaster) what you think at [EMAIL PROTECTED]. We hope you enjoy it!
