1. Lets be fair. I think it was "I", not "we" who flamed the Las
Vegas idea. When you live on the opposite side of the country,
you can forget that the media image of a place does not tell
    the whole story.

2. Sometimes people give gifts to influence people or to gain a
measure of control. This is as true of your average person as
a lottery winner. If I had good evidence that this was the case,
I would more than likely refuse. Otherwise I would accept.
Jesus had no problem accepting water from an adultress at the
well in Samaria, nor lunch from Zaccheus. In both cases, one
could make a good case that the source of the supply was tainted.
In Christ we have a reversal of a traditional religious idea.
Before Him, evil tainted good. Much of the levitical law is
based on this premise. However, Jesus showed us that Good
    can cleanse evil.

3. My backchannel conversations about Las Vegas reminded me of
an important truth, which is well communicated in the parable
of the wheat and the tares. Good and evil are mixed here.
This will not always be the case, but for now, we must live
in the light, walk in the light, and shine the light. Much
that is evil can thereby hear the Gospel and repent. The flip
side is that it is all to easy for Christians to fall.
