*Please run your Outpost as you see fit... and take these tips or thoughts and use them as yours, freely to build a strong Outpost! 1. Organize for a reason- When you read Chapter one of the LTC please do so for the right reason.. to share leadership and build common ground for the church,Boys and adults who set the tone of your outpost. Hold planning meetings and break the year into feature rich segments- publish the results and have calendars with dates attached to every memo and list. *You can't do your best without a heads-up as to what will be coming, and everyone needs to know when the next event is scheduled to happen. 2. Communicate!- Have a phone list and E-mail list for everyone in the Outpost and on the Outpost council! *On it break the Outpost structure out in patrols and with adult leaders names and phone numbers clearly posted to what responsibility that agreed to hold. *Your phone list is your table of organization- 3. Learn to greet every boy by name!- Anyway you can- do this... *Look into a boys eyes, and smile.. extend your big hand and shake! *Say something kind... *Guide him to his boy leader... *Remember the conversation... you had with him and build on it next week. 4. Mail info home- Develop a system for mailing event announcements home... It could be a newsletter but a personal form with a list of: What: Who: When: Return: Cost: Bring: *Is going to generate attendance at your outdoor event- *and this- is where Royal Ranger build 'Espree de Corp... *OUTDOORS! Sending an invitation home builds trust- show's you CARE! Let's you build COMMUNICATION with mom and dad! attach a phone list to the memo<G> a Outpost roster! 5. Look for Community events that pack punch with Good will and *spirit!- March in the Vet Parade... Construct a float... Plant trees- Day trips in Uniform.. Visit City Hall- Hold a table or booth at the fair or festival... 6. Publicize the BOYS! Find ways to post your successes and awards before the Church! Photo's-banners-letters of thanks... 7.Teach Good manners to the boys! *Have them always reply- Yes sir! Yes Mam! *Thank-you sir... *Send your boys on secret missions to the elders and deacons<G> have them get their "autograph" and leave a secret code word! *Alert! Back at the OP meeting discuss the "mission" and the results... plan other "polite communication missions" with Pastor and other members of the church<G> Done right- this builds links to the congregation and insight into the boys.. 8. Open on time and close with a ceremony- *Open with Flag and a brief prayer- *Close with a friendship circle and call for prayer requests... cross arms and speak low, make it a safe place to share... *Pray your heart... then close.. *Let the Parents see what you are doing.. *Then give a Ranger cheer!
