New Billy Graham film to air on nationwide TV this June! Here's the catch,
none of the networks will promote the film.
"Something To Sing About" (STSA) is a powerful independent film that will
have you smiling, singing and searching your heart. The movie features a
strong story, a high-octane Gospel soundtrack and an amazing cast including
Irma P. Hall (Patch Adams), Darius McCrary (Family Matters), Tamera Mowry
(Sister, Sister), and Grammy Award winner Kirk Franklin.
The Parents Television Council says: "I was very impressed with this quality
story of a young person devoted to bettering his community. The strong
anti-drug, anti-violence and pro-education message will positively impact
viewers. We are always thrilled when a movie is available on television that
the whole family can sit together and watch. Concerned parents everywhere
will welcome a movie like SOMETHING TO SING ABOUT."
However, STSA has the cards stacked against a TV audience large enough to
have the networks take notice of positive programming. We can change that
fact through the power of prayer and personal networking. Together, we can
make an impact in people's lives and in the landscape of network television!
While many network executives are impressed with STSA, they consider its
strong Gospel presentation less acceptable for prime time. Since the
alternative is not to air the movie at all, the Billy Graham Evangelistic
Association has purchased prime time blocks on at least one major station in
every market across the country. Cheers to Billy Graham for lighting a
candle in the darkness rather than cursing the darkness!
Many media outlets have balked at covering this important movie due to the
scattered broadcast times and stations during the week of June 3 - 10. You
can check your area's TV listings at ww.somethingtosingabout.com. Check it
out.
Beware that TV Guide and local TV listings might also list STSA as "Billy
Graham" or as "Paid Programming."
Because no single network is sponsoring STSA, they will not be promoting
it - but you can make a difference. Please forward this email on to your
friends who want to see entertaining Christian programming on Network
television. The only way we can effectively get the word out is to mobilize
the Christian community that wants to see a Light shine during prime-time
programming.
