There's a part of the Eagle Creek trail in Oregon that is cut from
a rock cliff, and is at least 100ft. above a rocky chasm and fair size
river.

I took the outpost there for a hike, at the end is a huge waterfall
that flows over the trail and you can stand behind the falls..and even
reach out and touch the backside of it!

To get there you must pass this cliff side portion of the trail.

This is a popular trail.. thousands pass each season, with no
handrail needed.. yet the boys asked me if it was completly safe...
and the truth is that last year a hiker fell to their death from
stumbling backward, right there!

One Pioneer who rarely listens<G> got every concerned... and then
as we approached the cliff showed fear! He got red faced.. and crowded
the wall of rock as we approched.. then he stoped!

*Where does FEAR come from?

Clearly in this boy he FEARED THE WORST! *The Un-known loomed ahead,
the world he knew suddenly required him to not make a mistake and step
off the trail! He was unsure he could walk that trail!

Do you face un-known trails where you FEAR a mis-step will lead to
distruction?

Courage is more than a word put in our RANGER CODE for us to say in the
safety of the Outpost meeting.. COURAGE come into play when we face
FEAR! We don't have to.. we can still be Christians, and go about our
lives avoiding situations... mayby quiting out of frustration..burnout,
un resolved communication..

*Or.. we can face the FEAR!

We stoped, and yes God answered our prayers for courage.. But we also
spoke kindness, encouragement, clear reasoning.. and added a dose of
good humor, This courageous Ranger passed the narrow trailside danger!

How did he do it?
-----------------

He "found" Courage, and overlooked the FEAR inside him!
I think he filled his heart and mind with light.. and that replaced the
darkness that griped him, thu friends and trust in others and in his
Lord!

HE OVERCAME HIS HANDICAP!

Courage!
