I also know a "bunch" of families in the situation you describe who are not
pulled apart by their ministries. In our church rangers is Sunday night and
Missionettes is Wednesday night so my wife and I are separate during those
services but we are together in Sunday School and Sunday morning worship. As
for the weekend events separating us - the Missionettes have about 1 per
quarter, Rangers maybe 1 per month. We have plenty of other family time
together - every afternoon and evening and all the other weekends. Any
marriage that can't survive that few weekends apart is in more trouble than
is caused by the weekend events. You are correct when you say family comes
first - before ministry, not before God - but families who believe and live
that way are willing to give up an occassional weekend or two - that gives
them character. If the family is having problems as serious as you imply,
maybe the families (or the individuals) need to change - not Rangers or
Missionettes.
