First turn off the water supply to the house or flat. Then using multi-grip pliers 
(expanding type) unscrew the tap. The take out the old spindle (it looks like a top) 
and 
put in the new one you just got from the hardware shop (make sure it is a hot water 
one). Screw the tap back on tight and turn the water back on. Check for leaks around 
the base of the tap and tighten nore if needed.
