*It's true! ...mostly<G>

The Navy gave me a close up personal aversion to
"Top-down authroitarian leadership" I even came
to dislike the all-male comradre... for one can only
stand so much "old spice" at one time.

While steaming along in the South China Sea.. we came
under alert for NVA Mig attack and ->A No.1<- had
battle station feeding the .50 cal Browning machine gun
off the bridge deck..

The alarm sounded and I responded...

The XO was somewhat 'strict about policy, a
REAL NTC Sr.Guide type and ordered every
sailor to  put on a flack jacket-helmit and stuff
their trousers into their socks..

*I was from California.. and as a "comfort" and
reminder of Mom apple pie ect. wore red and white
striped socks under my uniform in clear violation of
Naval uniform regulations... *OPPS!

XO came over with fire in his eye!

"LAD- YOU WILL REMOVE THOSE SOCKS NOW
OR YOU WILL BE FISH BAIT ON THE MORNING TIDE!"

"yesssir!"

Choices!

All You may have gleaned from his posts that our beloved Duane was in the navy and that he plays the banjo. What he hasn't revealed is that he was once a member of a musical band aboard a cruise liner. The reason is that he could never keep time with the other musicians. Things reached a head and the band leader confronted Duane and told him, "Look son, you have to keep time. If you don't I'm going to throw you overboard". So as you can see Duane was left with two choices,,,,,,,,  SYNC OR SWIM!!!!  <ggggggg> BoW
