Hello All,
I would like to tell all of you about what happened last week. I
attended NTC at Maypearl Texas and God REALY blessed me. As with all NTC
camps, it was full of pressure, suprise inspections and a lot to learn.
To those who had a negative experiance with thier NTC, this might help.
I too had times of frustration with what I thought was unreasonable
expectations of the patrols. Then God in His quiet and still voice spoke
to me and reminded me that as Commanders, we push the boys or yell at
them to "help" them regain the focus needed to finish the task that we
placed before them. In the boys eyes - are we not being unreasonable in
our expectations even though we KNOW they are capable in suceeding at the
task? God also helped me realise that a much firmer and stern approach
would be needed to get the same level of reaction out of adults as our
raised voices do in our boys.
All in all, everything was completed, the senior guides standard was
stolen (none of the patrol standards were taken) and Senior Guide was
awarded knotty at the closing services for allowing his standard to be
stollen. We had some fun, we learned a lot, we grew closer to men that
we had just met (my partol included seven of us from across Texas, 2 from
Houston {one out of Gulf Latin - GLD}, 1 From San Antonio, 1 from
Angleton, 1 from El Paso {GLD}, 1 from Tyler {GLD} and myself here
locally) and formed alliances with each other across this great state. I
also know that I can call on any of these men to join with me in prayer
about anything and they will be with me and I for them. Without NTC, I
would have never met these men and I would have been less for that.
NTC isn't for those who want a relaxing camp out. It is for those who
are willing to change themselves to become more usable by and for God in
the ministry of Reaching, Teaching, and Keeping boys for Christ. At
times, when we change ourselves - it is very unconfortable but the end
result is being bettered to be used of God.
With God's love,
Commander Kerry
