Hey everyone, Bama Ranger here. I haven't made a post in a while but I have
been reading many of yours. God has been very good to our outpost with the
addition of five newly trained commanders. We have been able to start up
Trailblazers again, with three of those commanders in there. Our section is
going to have booth in a Kid's Expo this weekend at our local civic center.
Last years event had over 62,000 people pass through. A great chance to
expose Rangers to our city.

I have been looking for any way to bring more excitement into our program
which is one of the ingredients for growth. We have been raising money to get
all of our boys in uniform. Tonight I went into the Pioneer group and gave a
big candy bar to those who wore theirs. I told them we would be doing special
things like that at random for those in uniform, so they better get it
together.

But here is the craziest thing I ever did. We haven't been able to get our
boys excited about advancement, so I made the Pioneers this promise. If ten
boys can earn through First class this year,(two ranks for all except one boy)
we would present them with a blue beret, and do a special outing just for
them.

But here is where I lost my mind. I told them I would have a man who attends
our church who is a barber to come to a meeting and right in the middle of
class to shave my head! My wife doesn't even know about it yet and I am
afraid to tell her.
To be honest I hope it happens. I will do anything like that to motivate the
boys.
Maybe we can get a local TV station to film it.

Anybody else out there willing to try something like that. One of our former
District commanders was quoted as saying, "when the adults think you have lost
your mind, that when the boys think you are great. I just am excited about
what God has been doing in our outpost and in our church services. Thank you
Lord!
