Last night in Pioneers..

I faced 20-25 boys... and *again we had the chance to do
many things, on the *ministry-encouragement side....
(*My Challenge!)

But we faced one more time, the gulf of the "ideal" as portrayed
in Training, against the "real" where the boys show confusion,
and a "shyness" in expressing leadership- or self motivation..
to embrace Royal Rangers themselves..

I'm not cutting it as Commander... My "Dad" patrol isn't involved,
beyond bringing the boys.. *We have no outpost council and past
conflict as well as the transition of a Senior Pastor has cooled
the involvement of the church with the outpost...

All RR leaders in uniform, come from "Outside" the church!
(*Trained and transfered from elsewhere)

*Yet Op207 is the biggest, brightest spot in the area...
ROY winners in all age groups... Two (2) GMA's and a sizeable
FCF membership...

*I'm loaded with Buckaroo top-hands in Pioneers who were "point riders"
*Trailblazers are all former Pioneer "Sr.Guides"

The 20-25 eyes starred back at this "Relic of the Past GLory<G>"

I appoligized for the quality of our advancement night...
*because I know in my heart it could be better... *advancement is the
health guage of an Outpost... (LTC)

*WHAT WILL ENCOURAGE ACHIEVEMENT?
---------------------------------

I have a radical plan for Pioneers of OP 207!
----------------------------------------------
*It's not perfect!

*We have workbooks for Pioneers and Trailblazers..

*What if... with the use of the workbook a Pioneer works on achievements
at home with a councilor of his choice.. Mom-Dad-Grandpa some adult
who would guide or affirm his reasoning in achieveing the point..

The boy will bring back his workbook filled out, along with an sig.
of his councilor...to present it to Commander. *Those achievements
that can be done with the Outpost on events will be accomplished as
normal, however when Outpost events do not happen.. a work around
at home affirmed by a councilor should be good enough...

*When the workbook is complete.. the Ranger will be reviewed by
Commander to assure all points were achieved and then...

Let's have the boy be reviewed by the "Dad Patrol"....

*Commander needs some help.. and MY desire is that each achievement
is completed "No More or NO Less" than what is stated... BUT without
help.. I am tempted to accept *anything.... Much as when a school yard
can overwhelm a teacher...

*I beleve... the "Dad Patrol" has the obligation to hold each Ranger
accountible to the Code and the Pledge as well as double the effectiveness
of a Good Man trying his best, with GODS HELP!

*With effective Leadership ala NTC style, *I would never be asked to
stand alone as the sum total of *Judge, *Arbitrator, *Gamemaster, *Pastor!

No... the NTC way was TEAM!

*Opinions...Please..

*Review!
1. Use "workbook" instead of the "after meeting shuffle"
2. Have parent affirm the Rangers achievement..
3. Review by Commander one on one
4. Ranger stands before "Dad Patrol" as a "Board of Review" and
double check on progress-attitude and achievement.
