Last week, we tried out the snow shoes we made by walking through about 2.5 miles of snow. They worked pretty well, but some of the webbing (construction fence material) was starting to break in places on some of the snow shoes. We obviously need to find some stronger webbing. Other than that, they worked pretty well. We had fun, saw lots of animal tracks in the snow, and got lots of exercise. I'm sorry we don't have formal plans for these things, but the general idea is to form a PVC pipe in a snowshoe shape with a couple of cross brace pieces, and lash on webbing and straps to hold shoes. To form a PVC pipe, first pack it with sand, then heat it with a torch and/or hot air gun at the point you want to bend it. Bend it using a form of some sort (i. e. a coffee can for the front). One of our commanders made a wooden form for all of the required bends. ___ Michael Paul Johnson aka Soaring Golden Eagle <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> http://eBible.org/mpj Rocky Mountain Outpost 207 New Creation Church Jesus Christ is Lord!
