"Submit yourselves, then, to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Come near to God and He will come near to you.  Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded."  James 4:7-8 (NIV)

There once was an Indian named "Two Dogs."  When asked why he was called by this name, he replied: "There are two dogs fighting inside me.  One is a good dog and the other is a bad dog."

When asked which one of the dogs within him was winning the fight, the Indian replied: "Whichever one I feed the most."

So it is with us.  There is a constant struggle taking place within us between good and evil.  Whichever one we feed the most will win the fight.  We feed evil when we yield to temptation and do those things which we know to offend God and are contrary to His will.  We feed good when we submit to God and His will for our lives; spending time in prayer, reading His Word (the Bible), fasting, obeying His commandments.

James wrote:  "Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  Draw near to God and He will draw near to you."

Let us determine this day that we will no longer feed the bad dog, but we will resist evil.  From this moment forward, we shall feed only the good dog.  We shall deny ourselves, take up our crosses and follow the Lord Jesus.
