OP207 had a "wonderful" speaker last week in 14 year old Trailblazer Josh... His topic was: You and the OUTPOST Chapter 4 of the Pioneer Handbook. He read the jobs of the Leadership and came to a funny word under the job of Commander.. that funny word in "italics" was ...directs (*Dictonary states:) ..to set straight ..to write a leter to a person ..to impart orally ..to adapt in expression so as to have particular applicability ..to point, extend or cause the following of a straight line or course. ..to show or point out the way ..to regulate the activities ..to organize, energize and supervise ..to train ..to en-join with authority ..to poit out ,prescride or determine a course or proceedure *Josh went on to read the other jobs... ...when he talked about the Patrol... patrol *spirit.. so as being a member of a group would have meaning and a unique character, expressed by a *Cheer a *Yell or a *Flag But also would be you "Helpers" in achievement and friends<G> Then he told them that to wait for Commander to get them excited to achieve or *propose activities....would probly result in something *Commander wanted to do<G> Top-down leadership required good followers, attentive listeners ...but *BUBBLE-UP leadership was better! *Bubble-up leadership was the powerfull desire of the boys to *want to go somewhere-do something-and have fun! It reversed the "Chain of Command" and put the boys at the top<G> The price would be GREAT! Boys would have to plan...(Patrol meetings?) Boys would have to propose and work out details (Gold-bar staff?) AND BOYS WOULD HAVE TO SHOW UP! ------------------------------- *good job Josh!
