Well, Praise the Lord! First of all. For those of us who didn't, just do
it anyway.
I have been subscribed back and forth to the Rangernet over a year now. I
can recap it, One of my first long running strings was "Can anyone tell me
how to cook a whole frozen turkey?" Well, I got plenty of responses to that
one. This year, I'm not going to make a turkey for Easter, just be one. :-)
I've generally learned about the Royal Rangers from all over the World in
places like Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Germany, England, Sweden,
Russia, etc.; I've learned about the different attitudes, cultural
backgrounds if you will. I've met folks from all over the US and have made
some lasting friendships for which I'm very thankful for.
I'm thankful to all of you for putting up with my sometimes corny humor and
my off on a tangent stuff that gets me off topic a little when I mostly need
some friends. You all are great, (Yes, you lurkers too!) I see you there
lurking about, afterall, I have a list of who all is subscribed to the
Rangernet.
Some of the hot topics I remember being discussed was the role of women in
Rangers, and the topic of the Grits and Vegimite. I remember the crazy off
topic personalities of our Brother Adrian, like the Larrikin and Gint of,
whom I just read, both Larrikin and Gint got laid to rest. I remember the
postings of -=A#1=- on PVT. Mitch Silvers USMC and I remember how Brother
John Evans learned how to deal with the Jehovah's Witnesses or (JWs) as he
likes to put it.
Camporama was a big deal and it always will be, but now the forum is out
and we will know how to not die heat exhaustion next time. I can remember
the long string of whether Rangers is a ministry or program debate (it's both
depending on where you want to put your emphasis) I remember about the big
bad ole Hurricane Mitch that went and blew Honduras away. I remember the
"Perfect Outpost" and the mini-series that was truly inspirational from
Victor in Australia. I remember well the trials and tribulations that the
Lord has pulled us through and now take a look at us! THIS is what the Lord
has done! I remember times of uncertainty experienced by us all. But as we
have learned to lean on Jesus, we can track our progress, Where are we now?
Where were we a year ago? We are another year older, and more richly endowed
with God's GRACE than we were a year ago. But God stays the same, yesterday,
today and forever. We have much to be thankful for, the blessings here are
too numerous for us to count, but God knows.
Easter, 1999. The last Easter Sunday of the 1900s, What has the Lord done
in your life and the lives of your boys?
I share this as it has been really fun talking back and forth over the
Internet.
May you and yours have a blessed Easter Sunday and remember "Look what the
Lord has done!" HE has Risen indeed!

Blessings,

Cmdr. Mike Burke
