At National Council last year we received "Guidelines for Writing New
Merits for Royal Rangers." These guidelines do not specify where proposals
go, but they ultimately end up with the national programs committee which
also developed these guidelines.
I. Knowledge Skills
A. Research
1. List any study requirements from books, libraries, internet access,
etc.
2. Record any results from field trips, etc.
B. Report: Report the results of testing, research projects, etc.
II. Practical Application
A. Interviews: can a professional in the field of study be interviewed?
B. Observation
1. Report findings of any observations that may be required
2. Have person being observed sign verification of observations.
C. Demonstration: List any requirements for demonstration of skills,
activities, events, etc.
III. Association of Christian value and application of knowledge
A. Is there any Biblical comparisons that can be made?
B. Can any application of Christian values be made to relate to this skill
or activity?
C. How does the activity, knowledge, or skill apply to my Christian life
and/or vocational interest?
IV. A. Identify the Royal Rangers group age level (Pioneer, Trailblazer,
Challenger) for which this merit is designed.
B. Write the merit at the age level it is designed.
