True, there is a lot of High School hockey in the northeast.  My son plays for
his high school JV team.  But to have younger rangers earn this merit, you
should consider playing on a town team as an acceptable alternative.  My son
played town hockey since he was 5 or 6.

I don't think, for sports merits, attending a game and writing a report is
enough.  I could (if I were young enough to be earing merits) attend a
basketball game and write a report and get a basketball merit even though I
lothe the game and can't sink a foul shot to save my life.  The point is, if I
want to go for the hockey merit or whatever, I should be accomplished in that
area.  We shouldn't make these available to someone who has never played the
sport - whats the point?
